How did I decide on the title THE WHOLE WORLD IN HIS PANTS?
One day my son Rohit, when he was 7, came home from school and burst out singing:
He’s got the whole world in his pya-ants,
He’s got the whole world in his pya-ants,
He’s got the whole world in his pya-ants,
He’s got the whole world in his pya-ants!
[2-minute break for hysterical laughter]
He’s got the Mummies and Daddies in his pya-ants,
He’s got the Mummies and Daddies in his pya-ants
[hysterical laughter, forced to give up song.]
It was my precious memory of his singing this song, and of the beautiful father-son bond that accompanied it, that inspired the title of this book.
